Supporting biodiversity is becoming an increasingly important part of responsible facilities management. Simple initiatives can make a meaningful difference to local ecosystems while also bringing communities together.
A recent project at Aspect Business Park in Nottingham shows how small actions can create a positive environmental impact.
In partnership with ESR, a community-focused biodiversity initiative was launched to introduce new wildlife habitats across the site while involving local schoolchildren in the process.
Pupils from Holmfirth Infant School took part in a creative workshop as part of the project. The children decorated a series of bird boxes and bug hotels, using bright colours and imaginative designs to help attract small wildlife.
The activity gave pupils the opportunity to learn about nature, biodiversity, and the importance of protecting local habitats, while also expressing their creativity.
Once completed, members of the fm Company team installed the finished pieces across the business park.
In total, 11 new wildlife habitats were introduced to the site:

These habitats provide nesting, shelter, and feeding opportunities for birds and insects, helping support biodiversity within the business park environment.
